Reema Wahdan and her family are now confronting a new form of fear in an otherwise peaceful Greenwood Village.
Wahdan expressed, “I’m uncertain about the timing, but it appears that someone has indeed fired a bullet through my living room. This act of aggression signifies a whole new level of animosity.”
Amidst increasing animosity towards the Palestinian community, Wahdan suspects that her home was targeted by an unidentified individual who fired a shot between Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Amidst the ongoing chaos and violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip, this situation persists.
“Our community is facing an unprecedented level of uncertainty and violence,” Wahdan, the director of the Palestinian Club, expressed. “Never before have we witnessed such heightened circumstances. Initially, I mistook the sound for a wire from my cable or TV, but upon sharing it with my husband and brother, they identified it as a bullet.”

Following recent world events, Greenwood Village police officers were at Wahdan’s home on Friday investigating the bullet hole. They stated that they have already stepped up patrols as a precautionary measure.
Greenwood Village Police responded to a report of a bullet hole discovered by the homeowner inside the home on Friday, October 13. Officers recovered what appeared to be a bullet from the home. The homeowner was unsure when the incident happened. We have no information at this time to suggest the homeowner was specifically targeted. We have had no other similar reports in the area. The case remains under active investigation, and we have no other information at this time. GVPD routinely patrols this neighborhood, however, we have increased our presence due to recent world events.
However, this incident is not the sole event that has impacted Wahdan’s community.
She stated that our business has faced numerous threats, with several individuals making calls and explicitly expressing intentions to harm us, even to the extent of saying “we’re going to kill you.”
Due to Wahdan’s apprehension about the persistence of threats, CBS News Colorado is refraining from revealing the name of her business.
The ongoing investigation into those threats is being conducted by the Denver police.
The Denver Police Department has been providing extra patrols around synagogues and mosques since Saturday and have been in contact with representatives from both the Jewish and Muslim communities to learn about any specific safety concerns that may arise.
Wahdan stated that the primary purpose of our business is to facilitate communication and unity among individuals.
Despite the presence of hate, Wahdan remains hopeful that people in the Denver metro area can unite. She emphasizes that she and other Palestinians are advocating for peace and freedom for their people without causing harm to others.
Wahdan expressed the voice of the Palestinian community, calling for an end to the ongoing violence affecting both Israeli citizens and Palestinians. He emphasized the collective desire for peaceful negotiations as the preferred path forward.
