Palestinians gathered Wednesday on the Auraria Campus in Denver to show solidarity with their friends and family in Gaza. They say they are not celebrating the attacks by Hamas on Israel, they just want their voices heard.
“The director of the Colorado Palestinian Club, Reema Wahdan, affirmed that Palestinians are human beings.”

She claims that her fellow citizens in Gaza are experiencing hardships just like Israelis.
Wahdan inquired, “Could you fathom the idea of 2 million individuals residing solely in a Denver suburb, and subsequently being exposed to aerial raids and bombardment?”
The Israeli Defense Force has taken further measures in response to the recent attacks by preventing Palestinians from leaving Gaza through their borders. Additionally, they have decided to cease the supply of water and fuel to Gaza. Wahdan expresses concern about the loss of innocent Palestinian lives as a result of these actions.

Wahdan expressed, “I want to mention that it is truly unimaginable that three of my close friends from Gaza have tragically lost multiple family members.”
Abdullah Elagha, residing in Colorado, is amongst the individuals affected by this tragic incident. Recently, he received the devastating news of losing ten beloved family members, including three innocent children aged 15, 2, and 1. Abdullah fondly remembers them as kind-hearted individuals who should have never met such a cruel fate.

Elagha expressed, “In their family home, they were subjected to an Israeli airstrike. It’s hard for me to fully comprehend that a whole section of my family tree has been abruptly severed.”
In addition, he emphasizes the urgency of ending the killing and denying Palestinians their fundamental human rights, such as access to food and water.
Elagha described the situation as an ongoing brutality, representing the day-to-day reality of Palestinians.

He, along with everyone present at the rally on Wednesday, strongly urges Colorado leaders to pay heed to the desperate pleas for assistance and yearnings for peace from his community. Their aim is to prevent any future loss, like Abdullah’s, from being suffered by Palestinians or Israelis.
Wahdan stated that the Colorado community believes in the possibility of peaceful coexistence, as continuing the war, violence, and cycle of conflict is not beneficial for either Israeli or Palestinian citizens.
