One of the beloved Broncos superfans, famously known as the “Monster Guys,” has passed away. Kerry Green, who for nearly twenty years adorned himself in orange pom poms at Denver home games, sadly departed on Sunday.
In the 1960s, Green began attending Broncos games alongside his mother. However, it was in the early 2000s when he initiated a unique tradition with his son Wesley – adorning their bodies with countless pom poms. Over the years, Green’s grandchildren Conor and Gavin also joined in on the fun. Throughout this time, Green has always been known as “Monster 1.”
Throughout the years, during home games, the group has dedicated a significant portion of their time at Empower Field at Mile High to exploring the stadium and capturing memorable moments with fellow fans through photography.
Last year, Green expressed how the attention he and Wesley received when they wore them and went to the stadium for the first time was extremely overwhelming.
Green attributed his love for the home team to his mother, and he has now instilled that same love in the generations to come.
Last fall, during an interview, he exclaimed, “The amount of fun we have is incredible!”
There is an upcoming tailgate party where Green’s family and friends are making preparations to pay tribute to him.
