There is a new casino operator heading to Deadwood, South Dakota.
This new operator in the Mount Rushmore State has acquired the Silverado-Franklin Historic Hotel & Gaming Complex.
So, who is this new operator of the Silverado-Franklin? And what plans do they have for the hotel and casino that has stood for so long? Is this good or bad news for the town of Deadwood?
Let’s dive into what we know.
That’s this new agent in Deadwood, and what are definitely the details?
On April 24, the South Dakota Commission on Gaming held a productive teleconference to discuss the potential new operator for the Silverado Franklin.
During the call, the South Dakota Commission on Gaming deliberated the approval of Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) to acquire the Silverado Franklin and assume their operator and retail licenses for the establishment.
After a thorough discussion lasting over ten minutes, Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) was granted approval, and Jon Grant Lincoln was named the primary licensee.
“Everything was handled professionally, with high quality. I really appreciated the process,” stated Lincoln, according to KeloLand.com. He further expressed his desire to eventually meet the commission members individually.
Lincoln serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Gaming Management, based in Missoula, Montana. In addition to his role at Strategic Gaming Management, Lincoln also consults for ZenSports, a mobile gambling app company located in West Hollywood. It is evident that Lincoln brings a wealth of experience to the table in this field.
As the meeting concluded and Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) was granted the license, South Dakota Commission on Gaming Chair Wagner welcomed the new operator to Deadwood.
Could the brand new operator refurbish or adjust things on the Silverado Franklin
There are no official renovations or plans that have been announced or even rumored at this time. It seems that Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) and Lincoln are taking the time to carefully strategize and approach the future plans with imagination and consideration.
While it is likely that there will be some form of renovation as the new owners make the Silverado Franklin their own and create a space for their customers, the lack of specific details makes it difficult to provide any concrete information. Simply stating that “there will likely be plans” does not offer much insight.
So, what does this mean for the town of Deadwood and the Silverado Franklin? At the moment, not much. This is simply the approval process that allows Lincoln and Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) to begin taking charge of their new project.
However, it is worth noting that in recent years, there has been a significant interest in purchasing properties in Deadwood. Perhaps the sales and renovations of other establishments in the community can provide some insight into what Lincoln and Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) may have in store for the Silverado Franklin.
Fortunately, there do seem to be some common threads and trends among other sales and operations in the Deadwood community.
New user follows style of people buying Deadwood place
What does the past indicate about the future of the Silverado Franklin now that it is operated by Lincoln and Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC)?
Steve Slowey, the owner of two historic hotels in Deadwood called Bullock and Hickock’s, shared his own experience of acquiring the properties and obtaining approval for his licenses back in January 2021. After completing the process, Slowey stated that his next step was to create a plan, which is something that Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) and Lincoln will likely have to do as well.
“The plan is to make a plan,” Slowey told Black Hills Pioneer. “For both hotels, we plan to do some remodeling and generate interest in both hotels, and we have other partners that will be involved in that. But right now, we’re just planning. We really don’t have anything to announce, other than we’re going to run good operations. The previous owners were good owners. I respect both of them and they had good operations, but we, on the other hand, are planning on improving on that.”
Deadwood is a historically beautiful place in the Black Hills that requires some finesse. Taking existing properties and renovating the space while maintaining the Black Hills aesthetic and creating an appealing and comfortable environment for guests and patrons is often the ideal approach. This is what Slowey chose to do, and it will be a decision that Lincoln and Super G Investments (SGMSD, LLC) will also have to make regarding the Silverado Franklin.
Only time will reveal what the plans for the Silverado-Franklin Historic Hotel & Gaming Complex will be.
