(Gray News) – The final regular season match of the Apex Legends Global Series concluded this past weekend, determining the top 20 teams competing in Split 2 Regional Finals. Although OpTic Gaming couldn’t secure a map win on Sunday, they still accumulated enough round points to secure second place in the series and a current second place in the European Split 2 standings. This means OpTic has secured their invitation to the Regional Championships this coming weekend. Most importantly, OpTic has earned 106 placement points throughout their six regular season match series, guaranteeing a spot in the Split 2 Playoffs.
For the EM Region, the top ten teams in the Split 2 rankings and the winner of the Regional Finals will make it to the Playoffs. The closest team that could match OpTic’s total placement points with a win this weekend is FaZe, who currently sits in sixth place in the EM standings. Even if OpTic finishes last in the Regional Championships, a tie for sixth in the final Split 2 standings will be more than enough to qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs.
OpTic’s performance in their fourth match series was the highlight of their Split 2 campaign. They won three out of the six maps and achieved eight or more eliminations on four separate maps. This also solidified back-to-back first-place finishes in match series.
Local Finals plus Playoffs
OpTic aims to be among the frontrunners going into the Regional Championships but faces tough competition from teams like XSET, FaZe, and TSM. TSM and XSET finished first and second in the Split 1 rankings and went on to compete in the Split 1 Playoffs. TSM emerged as the winner of the Split 1 Playoffs, while XSET took fourth place, earning enough Playoff points for both teams to secure an invitation to the Split 2 Playoffs and a solid position for the ALGS Tournament.
XSET currently sits atop the Split 2 standings and is guaranteed a spot in the Playoffs, which gives them an opportunity to increase their total playoff points even further. TSM, on the other hand, does not have the same chance as they currently hold the eighth position in the standings and will need a strong finish in the Regional Championships to secure a spot in the Playoffs.
Similar to OpTic, FaZe missed out on the Split 1 Playoffs and has no playoff points. While FaZe performed well in Split 2, they don’t have the same cushion as OpTic in the standings. FaZe will need to strive for a top-ten finish this weekend to secure a Playoff spot. Otherwise, they will have to rely on the teams below them to achieve consistent results.

Final Chance Qualifiers
Although teams are competing to position themselves for the Playoffs and a chance at the ALGS Tournament, there is another opportunity to make it all the way. The Last Chance Qualifier follows the Split 2 Playoffs and serves as the final chance for teams to qualify for the Tournament.
Each region hosts the qualifier, which includes teams that missed the championship cut but performed well in the standings for Split 2. The top two finishers in the Last Chance Qualifiers from each region will receive an invitation to the ALGS Tournament.
