Bear in mind last summer when some of the AC rumors centered around Bobby Flay Steak closing at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa? Well, it turns out the celebrity chef wasn’t actually leaving the Atlantic City casino location for good.
Just head over to Harrah’s Resort where the newest Bobby’s Burgers location is now open. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Friday afternoon, and Flay was there. The fast-casual spot is situated in the former Waterfront Buffet space. More food and beverage spots are also coming soon (see below).
PlayNJ was there for Friday’s opening to chat with Flay about his newest venture. When it comes to converting a former buffet space into a counter service setup, Flay said his team relied on the concept and formula that are part of the Bobby’s Burgers signature.
Regarding the Harrah’s AC location, Flay said, “We’re really proud of this one.”
“This is a little bit of my return to Atlantic City… I’ve had a great relationship with Caesars Entertainment for so long that when they said to put one in here I was thrilled to do it.”
That relationship includes three Las Vegas Strip locations.
Which cheese burger does Bobby Flay declare is ‘ most unappreciated? ’
The AC location has a dedicated counter for ordering (you’ll be asked for your burger temperature preference) and another for pick-up. The menu also includes fries, onion rings, and shakes. If you’re someone who enjoys a burger as your first meal of the day, there is a brunch burger available (with eggs, bacon, and American cheese).
The operating hours are as follows:
- Sunday: Noon-10 p.m.
- Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Saturday: Noon-2 a.m.
If you’re wondering what to order, Flay’s go-to item is the crunchburger (with bacon, American cheese, potato chips, and Bobby’s sauce). However, he says the nacho burger (with queso, tomato salsa, and pickled jalapenos) is the “most unappreciated.”
“It has so much flavor, so much texture, but it’s not the most popular burger,” Flay explained. “We only have four burgers, so it’s probably fourth on the list. I find the nacho burger incredibly satisfying.”
Harrah’ s Areas cooking way up more cusine plans
Certainly, it’s no secret that Caesars Entertainment has construction walls up at all three of their Atlantic City properties, including in the Marinara District where there are many additional fast-casual options nearby. Before unveiling Bobby’s Burgers, you may have noticed a sign advertising what’s next.
What we do know is that Chicken Guy from celebrity chef Guy Fieri will be making its Northeast debut on Tuesday, August 30th. It will be taking over the space currently occupied by Guy’s Sammich Joint.
Fresh CANJ director is an Ocean City traditional casino veteran
With Joe Lupo leaving for Las Vegas, the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) was in need of a new president. However, last week, the trade organization announced that Giannantonio will be succeeding Lupo. Giannantonio, the president and CEO of Resorts Casino Hotel, is no stranger to the AC casino scene. With over 30 years of industry experience and being an Atlantic City native, Giannantonio previously served as the Tropicana Atlantic City president and CEO before leading the Resorts team since 2012. Regarding his new role with CANJ, Giannantonio expressed his honor to succeed Joe Lupo as the next president. He acknowledged Lupo’s leadership and dedication to Atlantic City and stated his readiness to work with the community and the state to further advance Atlantic City’s reputation as a leading entertainment hub and destination resort. Interestingly, a recent episode of “Atlantic City Boardwalk Talk” featured a sit-down interview with Giannantonio, which was released just days before this announcement.
Joe Thiesman coming to Accommodations AC
With the 2023 NFL regular season just weeks away, DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts AC is hosting a free public event featuring former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann. The event will take place on Saturday, August 27 from 8-9 p.m. Theismann, who had a career spanning over a decade in the NFL, holds Washington team records for passing yards (25,206), completions (2,044), and attempts (3,602). The former Pro Bowl passer also played in Super Bowl XVII and helped the Redskins secure a victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Atlantic Town Airshow count-down
Now that we’ve reached the middle of August, the biggest event of the summer in Ocean City is fast approaching. Yes, the Phish and TidalWave beach concerts were a big deal. However, those crowds will not come close to the number of people visiting AC on Wednesday, August 24. This is when the 2022 Meet Atlantic City Airshow will take place (tentative start time of 10 a.m.). Approximately 500,000 people are expected to attend. We’re talking about a single-day crowd.
