Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa welcomes back one of its original establishments as the Old Homestead is reopening tonight for dinner. The steakhouse temporarily operated from a pop-up location while the restaurant underwent an extensive transformation.
According to the press release, the updated design takes inspiration from the flagship New York restaurant, featuring unique artwork and photography adorning the walls. The atmosphere is described as a “welcoming backdrop,” featuring traditional walls complemented by shades of red, silver and warm browns.
PlayNJ interviewed Robert McIntosh, Borgata’s Director of Food and Beverage, about the Old Homestead changes.
Perfect time for Older Homestead transformation
McIntosh stated that guests will “notice a difference immediately” as they approach Old Homestead.
“The view from the casino floor allows you to see into the renovated bar area, where we’ve repositioned the entrance, allowing customers to enjoy their favorite steak or seafood dish at the best seats in Atlantic City,” McIntosh said.
As for timing, July 2, 2023, will mark Borgata’s 20th anniversary, and Old Homestead has been part of the Marina District property since the beginning. Prior to that, Old Homestead only existed in NYC. McIntosh noted that the design team worked tirelessly, paying attention to every detail.
“Determining the right time for such an iconic restaurant takes logistical efforts and incredible collaboration on multiple fronts. With Borgata preparing to celebrate our 20th year in 2023, the time felt perfect,” McIntosh said.
Of course, the immediate demand centers around the Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays happening in the upcoming weekends, and reservations are in high demand.
“As we expected, we are seeing high volumes for the reopening and for the near future,” McIntosh said. “The enthusiasm among our guests at Borgata is electric!”
Old Homestead still providing long-standing most favorite
Old Homestead remains Borgata’s top choice for meat and seafood specialties. However, the “unrivaled beverage program” includes some exciting additions such as the Sherry Signature – Woodford Reserve Bourbon and Cointreau with a splash of Chardonnay and topped with a bubbly float.
Like other Atlantic City casinos, Borgata restaurants are getting into the holiday-themed mood. Old Homestead is offering a poinsettia martini made with raspberry grey goose, pomegranate juice, and Chambord, spritzed with a hint of sour and garnished with fragrant mint leaves.
The steakhouse is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
