Right after months of speculation, online poker players in the Northeast finally have some key Borgata competition news. A new live key series is going to return to the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. BetMGM Poker and Borgata have joined forces and are offering “The Return” series from January 4-8.
Online poker players can participate in four events hosted in Atlantic City. There is also a live qualifying event. Prizes worth more than $4,000,000 will be guaranteed for the January events. Borgata made the official announcement earlier today via press release.
“The return of tournament poker to Borgata is a long time coming,” said Vincent Alonge Jr., Borgata’s Director of Poker Operations.
The list of qualifiers is posted on the BetMGM Poker software, with the final scheduled for November 30. All live events for The Return will be held in the Borgata Poker Room and Central Convention Center.
This article will be updated as more details become available.
Who would like to Be a Uniform?
The Main Celebration at the Borgata runs from January 4-8. The $5,310 buy-in event has an impressive $3 million guaranteed prize pool. The event also guarantees at least $1 million for first place!
The series will also include a popular bounty event on January 2. Unknown Bounties are a popular phenomenon in the poker world. When players eliminate another player, they receive an envelope with an unknown prize. Unknown bounties allow players to win big, but they don’t know the prize they won until the envelope is opened. The top unknown prize for this event will be $250,000.
The complete collection is listed listed below:
- $2, 200 NLH Mystery Resources (Event a single, Jan. 2-3) – $1 M confirmed
- $560 NLH Satte Nommer to Top level (Event two, Jan. 3) – a single in twelve win
- $5, 400 NLH Main Event (Event 3, January. 4-8) – $1 Mirielle guaranteed
- $2, 100 NLH 1k Resources (Event some, Jan. 6-7) – $150, 000 confirmed
- $1, hundred NLH Survivor (Event your five, Jan. 7-8) – $22.99, 000 confirmed
Internet satellites in addition to buy-ins to find ‘ The particular Return’ on Borgata
Apart from the live qualifiers, players will have a chance to acquire entry through online satellites. This allows poker players to get in for a lower cost.
“BetMGM recognizes the rich history of tournaments at Borgata and is thrilled to collaborate with the team to bring online qualifiers to ‘The Return’,” said Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker, BetMGM. “In the coming months, we look forward to offering online poker players various ways to qualify for this momentous event that will kick off 2023 with a bang!”
NJ online poker players can also register for the Main Event online between December 1-31. In-person registration starts on January 2. According to the Borgata website, players can register through the BetMGM poker app. This is how the message reads:
“Log in to the BetMGM section through the BetMGM Poker app and select the Return Online Registration Tournament to secure your seat. Entries may sell out through the BetMGM platform. All players at the final table of the Tournament Event will receive a complimentary room on Saturday, January 7.”

Borgata holdem poker players publish mixed side effects
One person heading into the action in New Jersey is Zach Gruneberg of Boalsburg, PA.
“I’ve been anticipating Borgata’s return since COVID. I’ve always considered it my home casino, even though I’m a little over three hours away. I’ve been pretty lucky in the past at Borgata and I’m excited to be back with home-field advantage,” Gruneberg said.
He continues, “My room is booked for the whole stay, and I couldn’t be more excited to be back.”
However, not all players were as happy. Pierre Deissler voiced his concerns on Twitter, stating that this was a series for high-stakes players only. The higher buy-ins exclude the smaller recreational players. “What happened to a smaller buy-in tournament for everyone?”
Former Borgata pro Katie Stone posted on Twitter, “Likely due to space constraints. Not enough room or staff for big and small buy-ins.”
Other players have already started booking their rooms in anticipation of the event.
This series is months away but is already generating buzz in the community. Players can expect large fields for the January events. Historically, January events at Borgata have always drawn significant crowds.
