President Biden declares that the United States is exerting significant effort to locate and rescue Americans who are currently held captive by Hamas militants in Gaza.
In an interview for this Sunday’s 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley asked, “To those holding American hostages in Gaza, you say what?”
Mr. Biden responded, “We are committed to using all our resources to locate them. Every possible measure will be taken, and although I won’t provide specific details, I assure you that we are intensely focused on this matter.”
On Friday, the president spoke with family members of 14 Americans who’ve been missing since Hamas launched its deadly attack on Israel last weekend. Their conference call lasted more than an hour.
“In my opinion, it is essential for them to understand that the president of the United States of America genuinely cares about their situation, deeply,” expressed Mr. Biden during the interview. “We must convey to the global community the significance of this issue. Such actions are beyond comprehension, displaying sheer barbarism. We will utilize all available resources to bring them back home, if we are able to locate them.”
