LARCHMONT, N.Y. — A library book checked out 90 years ago is finally back at the Larchmont Public Library.
Joseph Conrad’s book “Youth and Two Other Stories” was borrowed on October 11, 1933, yet regrettably, it was never brought back.
The library recently received a mailed package containing a valuable item, which was found by a woman from Virginia among her stepfather’s belongings.
If the book had been charged at a rate of 20 cents per day, the overdue fees could have reached a staggering $6,400. However, due to the book being declared lost after 30 days, not to mention close to a hundred years, the fee has been reduced to a mere $5.
