With the Triple Crown season ramping up after a breathtaking Kentucky Derby last weekend, West Virginia horse racing enthusiasts have a new way to place bets on races from around the world.
To capitalize on the growing interest in horse racing in the United States, especially during arguably the most exciting time of the year for horse racing fans, PointsBet Sportsbook has developed a new horse racing app called PointsBet Racing.
West Virginians can now access the PointsBet Racing app and explore its various features.
West Va players may bet upon races through over one hundred and eighty tracks
PointsBet Racing adds to the numerous online options for West Virginia horse betting. West Virginians can place bets at various racetracks across the state or online through at least seven mobile sportsbooks.
What sets the PointsBet Racing app apart is that it is specifically designed for horse racing. This allows users to wager on races from over 180 tracks worldwide, including tracks in the US, UK, Hong Kong, Japan, and PointsBet’s home country of Australia.
PointsBet Racing also features live streaming options, playback capabilities, and personalized accounts. Best of all, the app seamlessly integrates with the products and platforms that PointsBet owns and operates.
The app includes “top track and favorite factor selection, new user educational tools, as well as seamless deposit and withdrawal capabilities,” according to Johnny Aitken, PointsBet’s US CEO. He stated:
“The launch of PointsBet Racing marks a significant milestone in our efforts to expand our product portfolio and capture the immense potential of the US horse racing market. We are confident about replicating the success we have seen in mature international betting markets where racing is a major engagement channel alongside sports. The new offering will contribute to the growth of online horse racing in the US.”
PointsBet attacks partnership using the Stronach Team
PointsBet Racing is a product that stands on its own. While under the PointsBet umbrella, the app is a one-stop shop for horse racing.
To accomplish this significant task, PointsBet has partnered with the Stronach Group, a well-known company that operates in the horse racing world. Their multi-year deal features the Stronach Group’s 1/ST TECHNOLOGY powering the new app.
Currently, bettors in 25 states, including West Virginia, can legally place bets on horse races worldwide.
PointsBet could be seeking to sell
PointsBet Sportsbook is undergoing a lot of changes right now in the United States and around the world.
Recently, the sportsbook’s partnerships with the University of Maryland and University of Colorado were abruptly dissolved due to public pushback.
According to Legal Sports Report, PointsBet is currently facing financial challenges and is in advanced discussions to sell its US business. Last year, PointsBet was also in talks to sell its business in Australia, but no deal materialized from those discussions.
PointsBet CEO Mike Swanell acknowledged the need for changes and additional capital.
“We have a strong balance sheet, but we recognize that at some point, we’re going to need more capital. So, we always assess these strategic opportunities very carefully,” Swanell said.
Swanell emphasized that any moves made by the company will prioritize what is best for investors.
“Ultimately, in determining which of these opportunities will be pursued, we answer one key question, which is what will be most value accretive for investors?”
One change that has already been made is the launch of PointsBet Racing. The success of the app can positively impact the sportsbook’s profitability in West Virginia and beyond.
