If you’ve been to visit DraftKings Sportsbook CT at Foxwoods Casino since Sunday, November 13, you may have noticed that it’s no longer in its original location.
The sportsbook opened its permanent location on November 13, rendering the temporary accommodations obsolete. It may now take the crown for the most impressive retail Connecticut sportsbook, but DraftKings will soon face more competition for that title.
DraftKings Sportsbook in Foxwoods On line casino makes the maneuver
The temporary DraftKings Sportsbook location on the casino grounds opened on Sept. 35. The The plan has always been to shift to a larger and more suitable space.
Now, that space is a reality. According to a press release, the new location competes with other DraftKings venues around the country.
It’s in the Great Cedar section of the resort and spans over 12,000 square feet divided between two levels. You can place bets using self-service kiosks or at the betting windows. It has that classic sportsbook feel, with an LED screen measuring 50′ by 30′ and wall-to-wall televisions.
VIP areas are available to customers, along with beverage and food options. The sportsbook features two full bars with a dozen beers on tap and a full restaurant. The average gameday experience is enhanced at the restaurant.
Jason Robbins, co-founder, CEO, and chairman of the board at DraftKings, commented on the new space:
“Our latest collaborative effort with Foxwoods, complementing the recent launch of mobile sports betting and iGaming, today marks the 12th permanent retail sportsbook for DraftKings. The meticulously designed space will provide customers with a premier in-person viewing experience available to Connecticut residents and beyond. As legalized sports betting continues to gain steam in Connecticut and across the country, DraftKings is proud to be a brand consumers recognize and trust, and we remain excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we team up with Foxwoods, a powerhouse in entertainment and hospitality.”
With its opening, this DraftKings brick-and-mortar sportsbook joins an increasing number of similar operations around the state. The new sportsbook faces competition in Connecticut.
The mar to seventeen retail sportsbooks continues
This isn’t the only news related to live betting on sports events in the Nutmeg State. According to Winners OTB’s website, all seven of their locations across the state are now accepting sports wagers through partnerships with the Connecticut Lottery and SugarHouse CT Sportsbook.
These locations are:
- Bobby V’s – Stamford
- Bobby V’s – Windsor Locks
- Winners – Manchester
- Winners – Milford
- Winners – New Britain
- Sports Haven – New Haven
- Sports World – Waterbury
In addition to the temporary FanDuel Sportsbook location on-site at Mohegan Sun Casino, Connecticut now has a total of eight retail sportsbooks. There is no official word on when FanDuel CT’s permanent location will open.
This number is just over half of what the new law allows. The CT Lottery has approval to operate up to 15 brick-and-mortar locations throughout the state. So far, there have been no announcements regarding additional locations.
However, the Lottery has made it clear that they are working on it, which means CT gamblers may have up to 17 options for retail betting in the future.
