At the anniversary celebration, Foxwoods CEO, Jason Guyot, said:
“Today marks the beginning of a spectacular yearlong celebration. And we look forward to welcoming guests of all ages to experience the wonder of it all.”
A long good ‘ move big or even go home’ for Foxwoods
Foxwoods is never one to celebrate in a small way. When the resort’s first theater opened in 1993, Frank Sinatra performed.
“That was something,” Guyot said. “Sinatra was playing Vegas and Atlantic City, and then he came to Foxwoods.”
Guyot also recalled that for the area that now houses the High Stakes Bingo Hall, Pavarotti performed for the opening.
Expansions are usually coming pertaining to Foxwoods Vacation resort Casino
Foxwoods also introduced its programs for a huge expansion in its anniversary occasion. Upcoming tasks include:
- A face lift for the primary entrance in the resort
- The brand-new High-stakes Bingo Corridor that’ t set to open up in the springtime

Arguably the largest part of the growth project, nevertheless , is the casino’ s brand new partnership using Great Hair Lodge. This specific June, earth will break up on an in house water playground, hotel, and even family enjoyment center.
The nice Wolf Villa partnership job is timetabled to be designed in 2024.
Family-friendly inclusion is usually a goal during Foxwoods
Great Wolf Lodge leads the way when it comes to family-friendly indoor water park resorts. Mashantucket’s addition to Foxwoods’ portfolio means local and visiting families will have a year-round vacation destination for much more than gambling in Connecticut.
Guyot spoke about the waterpark project:
“Foxwoods will become family-friendly on a massive scale. It will be about 15 spate adjacent to Foxwoods, not directly a part of Foxwoods. It will be a huge driver of the number of visits.”
Typically the Foxwoods extension will profit everyone
Along with the addition of new jobs, the Foxwoods expansion will also contribute additional revenue to state coffers. In slot machine revenue alone, the Connecticut casino has paid over $4 billion in state taxes since its opening in 1992.
In addition to taxes on gambling revenue, the resort casino also pays restaurant and hotel taxes.
Typically the expansion uses a decade regarding dark economical times
A decade ago, the Connecticut resort casino wasn’t experiencing the best of times. In March 2012, a New York Times headline reported that the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe Nation’s resort casino in Connecticut was “fighting for its life.”
The headline came after Foxwoods accumulated over $2 billion of debt. Despite the bleak outlook for the casino, it managed to overcome the tough times.
One contributing factor to the resort casino’s success is its prime location. Situated between Boston and New York, Foxwoods attracts the business of weekend-getaway travelers from not just one, but two major cities.
Surviving its 2012 financial crisis, this Connecticut casino emerged and thrived more than ever.
“First there was Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and then Foxwoods,” Guyot said. “Now, no one in the Northeast, or even in the country, can compete with us.”
Guyot is hopeful that Foxwoods’ expansion will bring both profit and success to the tribe and the state.
“As we look forward to the next phase of Foxwoods, and as we continue to evolve every year, we are proud to celebrate this milestone alongside The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Foxwoods associates, our valued guests, and the local community.”
