The NFL has set its sights on Africa as a source of both new talent and more supporters for the league.
Beginning in May, the league will begin hosting events on the continent that will sift out talent and generate interest in American sports.
Football fans in the Constitution State have access to two popular CT sports betting platforms for anyone who’d like to see what it’s about and get in on the action. With American football being one of the four major sports, you can bet that online sites like FanDuel CT and SugarHouse sportsbook have a ton of NFL betting options.
The african continent could be filled with unrealized expertise
Up until this time, the NBA is the only American sports league that has made significant investments in Africa’s sports talent pool.
The NBA’s capital up to $1 billion partnership with the International Basketball Federation has helped the basketball enterprise in Africa benefit from the federation’s management, equipment, and marketing.
Basketball Africa League, launched by the NBA in 2021, is evidence of this. The league has teams from 13 countries and sponsorships with:
- Soft drink
- Nike
- Surroundings Jordan
Now that the NFL is on the continent’s arena, talented individuals in Africa will get the opportunity to shine. Damani Leech, the NFL’s Chief Operating Officer for International, said:
“We want to provide an opportunity for the next generation of African prospects to show off and further develop their skills. As we continue to look for ways to strengthen the pipeline of international players, we hope this camp, and future camps, provide a pathway for aspiring players from across the country.”
While the NFL events this month will be debuting only in Ghana, Leech hopes that the success of the program will allow it to spread. Leech said, “We look forward to hosting the first camp in Ghana and will also explore opportunities in Nigeria and other African locations in the future.”
