Undoubtedly, one of Massachusetts’ most popular lottery games will soon be giving players more chances to win. The Massachusetts State Lottery offers Lucky for Life, a game in which winners receive $1,000 every day for the rest of their lives. The sport will build up from a couple of to several drawings a week starting up coming Monday, Come early july 19.
Currently, the multi-jurisdiction Lucky for Life game holds two drawings every Monday and Thursday night at 10:38 p.m. Eastern time. Starting next Wednesday, the drawings will take place every evening at the same time.
Tickets are priced at $2 and are on sale until 9:30 p.m. for the night’s drawing. The expansion of the game to daily drawings will not affect the odds or prizes.

Lucky for Life invites players to select five numbers from 1-48 (the white balls) and one additional number from 1-18 (the green “lucky” ball). Guessing all six numbers correctly wins the top prize, but the odds of doing so are about 1 in 30.8 million.
First-prize winners receive the equivalent of $1,000 per day for life for a minimum of 20 years. Payments are actually paid out on a weekly basis. If the winner dies before the 20-year threshold, the payments continue to the winner’s estate. First-prize winners also have the option to take a one-time cash alternative of $5.75 million.
Lucky for Life awards an additional prize for getting the five white balls correct, with odds of doing so at about 1 in 1.8 million. That prize is $25,000 a year for life, again for a minimum of 20 years, or a one-time cash option of $390,000.
Prizes are also awarded for other combinations of correctly guessed balls, ranging from $4 for getting the green Lucky ball correct to $3 for matching two white balls.

Lucky for Life was first introduced as Lucky-4-Life in Connecticut in 2009, with Massachusetts later adopting it. The game’s current format was established in 2015.
Currently, Lucky for Life is available in 22 states along with the District of Columbia.
According to the Blessed for Life Champions Archive, since the format change in 2015, there has been one Lucky for Life first-prize winner in Massachusetts. Additionally, a total of 45 second prizes have been won in Massachusetts during that time.The expansion of Lucky for Life is not the only multi-jurisdictional lottery adding drawings.
