The schedule for the 2023-24 NFL season was released last week, and oddsmakers aren’t showing much love to the New England Patriots.
The Patriots are favored in just three of their 18 games in the upcoming NFL season.
That equates to only 23.5% of their games. Yikes! That’s somewhat surprising for a team that went 8-9 last year, barely missed the playoffs, and has a talented new quarterback with one more year under his belt.
Sportsbook software in Massachusetts launched in March, which means football fans in the Commonwealth can get in on the action when the season starts.
Patriots agenda breakdown
New England Patriots playing season will kick off on Sunday, September 20, at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. As the reigning NFC Champions, it’s not surprising that the Eagles are favored by 4.5 points.
The Pats then have a home game against the Miami Dolphins, followed by back-to-back road games against the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys. New England is not favored in any of these games, according to DraftKings Ma .
Eventually, better possibilities in Full week 5
The first game in which the Patriots are favored is Week 4 against the Saints. Currently, New England is a 3-point favorite.
The following week, the Patriots are also favored against the Las Vegas Raiders on the road. They aren’t favored again until Weeks 9 and 10 against the Washington Football Team and Indianapolis Colts. Both of those games are at home.
New England’s bye week comes in Week 11. They play seven games after the bye, and they aren’t favored in any of them.
However, there are some close spreads during that time frame. The Patriots are underdogs by less than 2 points in five of their final seven games.
Interestingly, all major sportsbooks, including BetMGM Sportsbook Ma, project New England’s Over/Under for total wins at 7.5 games.

NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE spreads can adjust
The Patriots may only be favored in four games right now, but that could change.
Professional oddsmakers for US sportsbooks constantly adjust odds and lines in NFL games. The odds for each game are subject to change right up until kickoff.
Odds can change based on a variety of factors. The most common ones are player transactions, injuries, and weather.
Because the Patriots have so many close spreads right now, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the lines move in their favor. By the time the season comes around, the Pats could be favored in more than just four games.
