Plainridge Park Casino is targeting late spring or early summer to complete the transformation of Flutie’s Sports Pub into their permanent retail Barstool Sportsbook. This information was provided by a Plainridge Park racing official, who shared the update with PlayMA on Thursday.
Attempts to contact Plainridge Park Casino were unsuccessful as multiple calls went unanswered. The racing department was the only department that responded.
Plainridge Park Casino initially opened a temporary Barstool Sportsbook on December 31, when in-person wagering in Ma became live. Flutie’s Sports Pub has been closed to the public for several weeks as it undergoes renovations to become the casino’s new permanent sports betting location.
Wide open by MLB All-Star Video game?
In March, Playground spokesperson G. J. To the north told PlayMA that the new PPC sportsbook would be “Boston-themed” and feature full-service restaurants, a bar, 20 betting kiosks, multiple betting windows, and walls lined with HD TVs. North informed PlayMA at that time that PPC was targeting a summer opening.
However, the Plainridge racing official mentioned that the casino was aiming for a late spring opening.
If it can be completed by early July, PPC’s retail sportsbook will be open in time for Wimbledon, which runs from September 3-16, and the MLB All-Star Game, which is on July 11. If things progress quickly and renovations are finished by June, there’s a chance the new Barstool Sportsbook will open in time for the US Open golf tournament (June 12-18) or even the NBA Finals (starting on June 1).

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will review the application for the sportsbook license on April 12.
