MGM Springfield is hosting weekly hiring events to bring its staff back up to full strength.
As the COVID-19 outbreak seems to be slowing down, casinos are expected to experience a resurgence in activity. Therefore, MGM Springfield needs to fill hundreds of positions.
The operation is relying heavily on these in-person events to accomplish the task. Interested candidates can attend the events held in the MGM Springfield hotel lobby from 1-3 pm on any Tuesday. The hiring events will continue every Tuesday until further notice.
“As COVID restrictions are being lifted, with conditions trending positively, we are looking to gradually open more amenities and activate more areas. To do that, we need to hire a significant number of individuals,” said MGM Springfield Executive Vice President Chris Smigel.
MGM Springfield hiring function has a various job open positions
Currently, MGM Springfield has a critical need for culinary staff workers. The casino’s first priority hiring event focused primarily on the culinary and food departments.
At the first event held in August, MGM hired six cooks for their kitchen. However, Smigel stated that the operation requires more staff members.
“We need more. We have a large operation, and our hours are currently limited. In order to make things more accessible to our guests in terms of food and beverage, we need more personnel,” said Smigel.
If cooking is not your strong suit, don’t worry! In addition to culinary and kitchen staff positions, there are plenty of other job opportunities available.
According to the MGM Resorts careers webpage, they are also interviewing and hiring for the following positions:
- EVS Utility Attendants
- EVS Casino Porters
- Security Officers
- Fountain Workers
- Count Team
- Technical Utility
- HVAC Tech
- Public Safety Office and Event Security
MGM comes with lots of employment and offers for new employs
MGM Springfield is looking to fill approximately 200 positions. This all-in effort to fully reopen the facilities seven days a week was once impossible due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Jason Randall, MGM Springfield’s Director of Human Resources, mentioned that while they are actively vetting and interviewing all candidates, the sooner they fill these open positions, the better.
“Our guests are requesting that,” Randall said. “They want more options here on-site, and we need to be able to provide that, so we need the right amount of staff to serve them properly and get the venues reopened.”
With so many jobs to fill, MGM Springfield Casino acknowledges that they may encounter difficulties finding enough people to fill all the roles. As a result, the casino is offering several incredible incentives for those seeking employment.
MGM Springfield provides an increased hourly wage, up to $2,500 in retention bonuses, free college tuition opportunities, and benefits for new employees.
“Our retention bonus is based on location and the type of position that someone goes for… $2,500 for the culinary positions is the largest offering that we have, but our retention bonus can be anywhere from $1,500 and up,” Randall said.
